Care and use

How do I care for my ceramics?

Treat your ceramic items well and they'll last a life time! To care for your ceramic piece, please hand rinse your pieces, which is more gentle than a dishwasher.

It is very important (and we highly suggest) that you let boiling water settle (stop rolling/bubbling) before pouring it into a tableware item - especially a hand made piece. If the item is very cold to the touch, we also suggest pre-heating it with hot tap water. Pouring boiling water directly into a cool handmade cup, bowl or mug may cause the item / glaze to crack.

We don’t recommend keeping ceramics outside during cold temperatures or placing them into freezers as they may crack or chip. We also don't recommend putting your item through quick temperature changes (ex. pouring hot liquid into a cold mug)

All mugs, bowls, and plates are microwavable.

Are the ceramics food safe?

Yes all cups, bowls and plates are food safe and you can drink hot/cold beverages out of them.

Unglazed porcelain & stoneware surfaces, such as the matte unglazed white areas on our Mini Nude and Mini Bumbum Cups are sometimes susceptible to light stains. Frequent washing can help remove and prevent staining. We suggest hand washing, however, our tableware items can be placed in the dishwasher for the removal of stubborn stains on a mild / low heat setting.

You can also place the item in a bowl of warm water with a detergent tab. Very stubborn stains and spots can sometimes be removed with diluted chlorine and lime remover.

Dark lines in the glaze (usually caused by silverware) can be removed with vienna lime chalk powder or by scrubbing with a sponge and a dish soap + baking soda mixture.

If greasy marks appear on matte surfaces, rub the area with food safe oils, let sit, then clean with soap and water or try scrubbing with a sponge and a dish soap + baking soda mixture.

Are the ceramic vases water-safe to use with real flowers?

Yes, our vases are safe to use with water and fresh flowers. However, stoneware is a semi-porous material, so to prevent sweating and condensation on a surface, please allow the piece to dry out for at least a full day before refilling with water between uses. Stoneware pieces must be handled delicately to ensure that the items remain undamaged. Depending on the surface you intend to place the ceramic piece on, you may wish to use and tray underneath of a vase or attach felt to the bottom of a sculpture. Hanna Englund is not responsible for marks left on surfaces that vessels may leave.

My package says “delivered” but I haven’t received it yet?

There are a few steps that you can take to try and determine where your package is:

  1. Contact your local postal service, and ask to speak to someone directly. They may have more information on where it was left.

  2. Did one of your neighbours accidentally collect your package?

  3. Is your mail area secure? Are packages left unattended where you live?

If you have done the above steps without success, please contact us at hannaenglundceramics@gmail.com
